To own a pet, may it be a cat or a dog entails a huge responsibility. Rearing a pet is like taking care of a baby. You need to have the proper way of nurturing them as well as instilling correct discipline at a young age to ensure they grow up obedient. Same goes with dog training. You must be able to implement discipline with loving tenderness and care to encourage effective puppy obedience training to pets.
Pet training is a great challenge to owners. You and your pet needs to have an adjustment as well in many aspects like companionship, environment change and many more. Your pet will be adjusting to his new home the same way you will be adjusting to a new or rather an additional load in your household that needs profound attention.
Start the training the moment your new pet arrives home. To do that, read some tutorial or any reading materials to ensure of doing the proper disciplining procedure. However, there may be varying opinions coming from experts on how to do correct pet training. Some may say that pet training should be done on its sixth month and others would say that it should be done at a young age.
Well, if you had your pet when they are born, lucky for you because you can implement discipline right away. But what if you got your pet on its sixth month already; is it too late to impose discipline? The best solution to that is, regardless of age, you should start to inculcate discipline the moment your pet is brought home.
Puppy obedience training is vital in order to mold a happy healthy dog. As the old adage goes “spare the rod and spoil a child.” This saying also plays a vital role in dog training. Negligence in exposing your pets to proper socialization within its formative months encourages greater chance of having poor behaviour later on.
Being the trainer you must also show firm command. It is best also to perform the training in a spacious room. Start by getting your pets attention by calling its name. If he responds to his name, make sure to give him a treat. This will give him an idea that he did something correct. Once he goes near you to get the treat, make a gesture by touching him and give him encouraging words. Repeat this puppy obedience training several times within the day for several days until he is accustomed to his name and then move to another training module. Teach your dog or cat to follow certain instructions of the house and the like until your pet has fully grasps everything. Remember, do the training right after you brought your new pet home.
