Pets are big responsibilities which is why one should give it a good thought before deciding to get an animal for a pet. They will be treated as a family member and should be provided with pet supplies which are somewhat the same as the needs of any member in the household. Dogs are probably one of those pets that will require a lot of attention and budget. For those new owners of a pet dog, here are the necessary supplies you have to know.

Food

healthy-pet-food

The nutrients needed by a puppy and a full grown dog are different. Growing puppies will have to eat more and should be rich with protein to support their growing needs. You can ask from the pet store people the brands that they have and choose one that is suitable to your budget. Your puppy becomes an adult when he reaches his 8th month. This is a time to change his diet and time to start buying food specifically for adults dogs. Should you decide to feed them home cooked food from time to time, remember that they are meat eaters and may detest the smell and taste of vegetables.

Health

It is imperative that dogs be vaccinated against Canine Distemper, Parvovirus, and Rabies. There are also health conditions that might require for you to bring your dog to a veterinarian. To make sure they are healthy, a good diet may sometimes be insufficient so you’ll have to give them vitamins especially during their puppy stage. You will also need to put some budget on grooming supplies like shampoos and soap plus the expenses needed to bring them to a professional groomer from time to time.

Toys and Accessories

The most important accessories to get for your dog are leash, collar and a crate. Leash and collar are essentially needed in behavioral trainings and provide safety during walks and travels. Crates will be handy in cases when you need them isolated for some reason. Giving your pets toys are helpful to prevent boredom. Putting clothes on them may serve as both fashion and also comfort during cold months.

These are necessary pet supplies for your dogs, but you do not have to limit yourself on getting some more to make your pet a well-rounded, happy and healthy dog.

Dog Allergies

Dog Allergies

Dog allergies are thought to be very common, right? It probably makes up over half of a vet’s patient complaints. But are your dog’s symptoms really because of dog allergies? When we don’t know what is causing mysterious symptoms, they are often labeled as an allergy or allergic reation to something. Azmira recommends that we replace the word allergy with the word toxic. That is because a toxic body is always at the root of what we call “dog allergies”. Waste products from a toxic body weaken the immune system which lowers the resistance to allergens. Or a more likely cause of Fido’s constant itching is probably the toxins exuding waste through the skin.

Veterinarians have now acknowledged that less than 1% of dogs hae true food allergies. Many of these dogs thought to have allergies to meat and wheat were switched to a lamb and rice diet. Then once their systems were detoxified and strengthened, they successfully went back to a HIGH quality meat and WHOLE grain diet with no return of the “dog allergies.” Poor quality dog food makes it more difficult to digest, which creates more waste product and interferes with the immune system. If you feed your dog pet food that contains rotton carcasses and mold and grain by-products, your dog may very well look and act like he has dog allergies. If you switch your dog to a high quality dog food like Azmira, you will probably see the “dog allergies” dissapear. Because they are not really allergies. Your dog may just be toxic due to his diet.

With all of that said, your dog may indeed have dog allergies. If that is the case, again I refer you to Azmira. They have a full line of pet herbal remedies, including several for dog allergies.

Pet Poisons - Human Medication

Pet Poisons - Human Medication

There are so many pet poisons in your home! The ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center (APCC) fields hundreds of thousands of calls concerning pets exposted to poisons in the home and yard. Human medication is at the top of the list of pet poisons found in the home. Please, do not think that if an over the counter drug helps your pain that it might help your pet’s pain, too!!! Over the counter pain medications like Motrin, Advil, Tylenol, etc. are pet poisons! Do not think that your antidepressant might help your precious pet — these are pet poisons! I understand that sometimes a pet can take a human medication by mistake, but my biggest concern are the people who are doing their best to help their pets but instead poison them with human medication. Daddy would sit at the table once a week setting up his pills for the week, and Mom would watch like a hawk — she knew that occassionally a pill would hit the floor and we’d have to search a green and white floor for a small green pill, all while keeping their chihuahua in a different room. Mom could spot them, but she was so afraid her little dog would take a blood thinner or other pill that could hurt her precious dog.

Other pet poisons lurking in your home are insecticides. Be sure to read the labels! Do not give dog flea control to your cats — that could be fatal. Be careful about baits to kill mice and rats, too! These not only attract mice and rats, but they also attract dogs and cats. These are pet poisons! There are also common foods that are pet poisons — grapes, raisins, walnuts, avacados, onions, garlic, beer, caffeine, and xylitol (used to sweeten sugar free goodies) can be poisonous to your dogs. I hesitate to include garlic in this list, because it is a very beneficial supplement for dogs and cats, but if given in excess can cause anemia in dogs. Some veterinary medications are flavored so that your pets will take them, but that also means that if by accident they get into an entire open bottle, they are gone and become pet poisons in large doses. Chocolate is also in the list of pet poisons. I know you love your chocolate, but please do not share with your pets. Other pet poisons include toothpaste, bleach, detergents, herbicides, antifreeze, fertilizers, ice melts, and some plants like tulips, elderberry, holly berry, poinsettias, and more.

If you think your dog or cat has ingested any of the above pet poisons, first call the Animal Poison Control Center’s 24 hour hotline at 888-426-4435 and follow their instructions. You can also have someone else read the label of the pet poison ingested for suggestions, and of course keep your pet as calm as possible.

Do you have a dying pet?

Do you have a dying pet?

Do you suspect that you have a dying pet? You are not alone — most of us have gone through this countless times in our lifetime. The sad truth is that our pets do not live as long as we live. I did find a good article explaining the symptoms of a dying pet. Some of the symptoms of a dying pet are: excessive sleeping, limited movement, loss of appetite, incontinence, vomiting, diarrhea, less coordinated, and shaking or twitching. Your heart breaks as you watch your beloved pet in such misery. If you suspect you have a dying pet, please visit your vet. Get their opinion, but question prolonging their life just for your sake. It is a very difficult decision, but sometimes euthanasia is the kindest option. Ask your vet if there is any hope of reversing your pet’s illness. A lot of times there is no hope, and the vet can only offer medications to help ease the pain.

But be honest with yourself. If you determine you do have a dying pet, ask yourself what their quality of life is. Whether you decide to put your pet down or not, you can help yourself and your dying pet. Give them lots of hugs and pets, and keep them close to you with whispers of your love. Be sure they are as comfortable as possible. R&R Essence is recommended for yourself, your pet, and all other pets and people in your home. Azmira makes a wonderful product called L-PhenyPet which is a powerful, non-addictive analgesic — it is effective in relieving pain that your dying pet may be feeling. It can also help alleviate depression and reduce seizures. Azmria’s Calm & Relax is another great product to help with pain control.

This posting brings tears to my eyes, as I relive the loss of my previous dying pets, and as I fear that I may lose other precious pets before I die. So I give my cats as much love every single day as possible, and I enjoy them and make sure they know I love them. But I do have to admit that I often lecture Abigail (the black and white beauty in the picture at the top of the page) and tell her that she MUST live longer than me. I cannot live without my Abigail. And when I give her this lecture she purrs and looks me in the eyes and licks my nose — probably her way of saying “what will be will be” but I interpret it as her confirmation.

Alternative Dog Cancer Treatment

Alternative Dog Cancer Treatment

I found a great article on Alternative Dog Cancer Treatment! Readers have written in about their success stories after using their alternative dog cancer treatment. They talk about a lot of different things, but the common element comes down to a healthy diet. Everyone started by taking their dogs off of the unhealthy dry food diets that most dogs are given, because they are loaded with carbohydrates. Why do you think our dog food has so much carbs? Plain and simple — it is cheaper than proteins. It is very sad to think about, but it is the bottom line that the majority of pet food manufacturers are looking at — NOT your dog’s health.

If your dog is diagnosed with cancer, your vet will suggest surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy. But please, understand that you have other alternatives! Try an alternative dog cancer treatment, before subjecting your beloved pet to the torcher of modern medicine. I watched my Daddy fight cancer and go through everything his doctors suggested. My Daddy did not die of cancer — he died from the cancer treatments. Do not do this to your dog or your other loved ones. Please, understand that this is just my opinion. I know a lot of people have been “saved” due to modern medicine, but there are others whose quality of life in their last few months of life was so horrible . . . My theory is to attack the disease naturally, and not try to kill the cancer at the expense of the dog or person.

Below is a heart-wrenching video of a dog that was doomed to death, but was saved by an alternative dog cancer treatment. I am not familiar with the products at BarkIsGood.com. I do know one product from Azmira, Immuno Stim’R is an amazing product. I use it myself (even though it is a pet remedy) whenever I’m fighting a new cyst, but it is also an alternative dog cancer treatment!

Snow’s Story and the Pet Herbal Remedies He Takes

Pet Herbal Remedies -- Not Snow but Looks Like Him

Pet Herbal Remedies -- Not Snow but Looks Like Him

Snow is a very large, very lazy, sweet cat. When I purchased my ranch in Colorado, he came with the ranch. He would amble around and catch mice when he felt like it. However, I found him nearly dead several times, because his urethra was blocked by crystals in his urine. Each time the vet would get the crystals to dissolve. The last time it happened I took him to the local veterinary college. They suggested re-routing his plumbing and turning him into a little girl kitty. This is called Perineal Urethrostomy (PU surgery). Mind you, all of this happened before I new the wonders of Azmira’s wonderful pet herbal remedies. So I consented to pay thousands of dollars for this surgery. The good news is that he is alive today, but Azmira’s pet herbal remedies could have saved him some dignity and me some money.

The Ongoing Solution: Pet Herbal Remedies

Pet Herbal Remedies - Yucca Intensive

Pet Herbal Remedies - Yucca Intensive

If left untreated, Snow would continue to have occassional uninary infections, for which vets always prescribe very strong antibiotics. That is no way to live, so I have him and my other cats (how can you slip a mickey into one cat’s food and not the others?) on several of Azmira’s high quality pet herbal remedies. The core of their program is Yucca Intensive Pet Herbal Remedies. Yucca Intensive contains saponins, which is a great anti-inflammatory agent. This helps the body to create its own steriods, and steriods are often prescribed for kidney and bladder ailments. But this has no side effects! The second product my cats get is Kidni Biotic Pet Herbal Remedies. This is for uninary tract cleansing and supports optimum urinary tract function. The final product in my arsenal to battle Snow’s kidney problems, is D’Toxifier. This is not only good for urinary dysfunction, but it is also great for allergies, arthritic discomfort, and digestive upset. I just put 2 drops of each of these pet herbal remedies on top of their canned cat food in each of their food dishes, add a little water and stir. You then have a concoction to keep your cats’ kidneys in tip top shape. I do take them off for a week or so every once in a while — that is a good idea when giving any pet herbal remedies. I also slip Snow an occassional Uva Ursi – a remarkable herb that my Daddy swore by.

OK. True Confession Here. I Take Pet Meds.

I Take Pet Meds

I Take Pet Meds

I admit it! I really do take pet meds. I told this to a physician one day, and you should have seen the look on that doctor’s face! I assured her that I was not taking Frontline or HeartGuard, but when I have a problem I turn to Azmira’s high quality pet meds and herbal remedies. For example, if I feel like I might be coming down with a cold, I take Azmira’s Immuno Stim’R and Viral D’Tox. I will admit they really do not taste so good, but I avoid catching that cold! For dogs and cats, the dose a couple of drops twice a day, but for people you have to take a dropper full twice or more a day. You just mix it into a small amount of cold water, and chase it with water or something to take the taste away. Actually I sort of like the taste, but then I am sort of strange. A while back I was faced with a nail fungal problem, so again I turned to Azmira’s pet meds. I took their Yeast and Fungal D’Tox. That cleared up the problem within 2 weeks, but I have to tell you that I have NEVER tasted anything as bad as that medicine. But it worked! I have heard of other people taking Azmira’s kidney remedies (Kidni Biotic, Kidni Kare, and Kidni Flow) with great results!

The Day I Gave My Nephew Pet Meds

Pet Meds May Not Taste Great

Pet Meds May Not Taste Great

Funny story: My nephew was feeling like he was coming down with a cold one day. So I gave him my pet meds home remedy. The look on his face was priceless. I’m sure you’ve seen that look. It is that look when you give your 6 year old caster oil for the first time. Later that day, he came into my office and said, “Aunt Linda, I have to tell you . . . I’ve had a very strange desire to lick myself all day!” It took me a moment, but then it hit me that he was referring to the dose of pet meds I had given him that morning. I laughed so hard!

Move over Rover — give me some of your pet meds!
